I had read so much about it in magazines and on the web. It all started out about 2 and a half years ago, when I went to Electronics Boutique to purchased the game EverQuest. I hade a wonderfull job, a great house, a beautiful and lovely wife and most importanly my 2 beautiful little girls wich I love dearly.now I've lost everything because of this game. If for ANY reason you have to solo forget it, this server is not for you.I don't know where to begin my story, I am nearly crying as I write this, so anyways, I'm going to write my personal story that happened to me in hopes to help some of you out there who have an EQ addiction a chance to get out of it before it get's to late.īefore EverQuest I used to have nearly a perfect life, I was living the american dream if you will. Tldr Genesis has a good staff and decent goals and if you have a lot of time and play a group friendly class or play with dedicated friends give it a try. But by the time I get to 50 this server will be only another empty hole with nothing but rr7 and higher 8mans bitching that there's no population. I really don't want i50, levelling/grinding is part of the process and I love the classic game (TOA ruined it for me). I know daoc has always been like that but the frustratingly slow exp gain is a part of the "classic feel" that we could all do without. There are many people in my position who would love to log on for an hour at a time and be able to see some gains past level 40 but this server does not offer that. But I can't be the only one who feels that it's just not worth the time when there is absolutely no way to solo to 50 and no plans to change this. This is FZ outside of lamph where the "huge" xp bonuses are.ĭon't get me wrong, I encourage everyone to try it and if you have a few dedicated friends it's a great ride.
On the weekends I have more time, sometimes over 5 hours to play but even then who wants to group a nightshade? I do have a few alts and thats part of my problem but my point is, I'd love to spend the big chunks of time I do occasionally have to RvR but with the ridiculously slow solo exp rates all I'm able to do is spend my time grinding one mob at a time for 0.01 exp.
When I log on there is never more than 200 people online (except weekends are better). I have about 1 to 2 hours at most to play in the afternoons and an hour in the morning when I get home (I work overnights). I was just on genesis on my 42 nightshade. If you couldn't tell i'm a huge advocate for PvP, and in this day and age DAOC PvE is just god awful, I think you could really attract lots of people if you could get more into the BGs and keep people PvPing. Even stuff like, Obtain a double/triple/quadra kill in PvP for like a cool reward or trophy for your house, kind of like achievements. Lots of variety in these places to have all levels of play. For example, get 5 solo kills or kill 20 albion players, capture the keep, kill 30 goblins in the PvP zone.
Maybe PvP quests in BGs to help outfit newer players, help level up quicker, and just induce PvPing. Maybe repeatable / daily quests in BGs to fuel more PvP action while giving PvE incentives.ĭAOC is all about the PvP action, incentives to be in the battlegrounds/frontiers should be greater than farming ORCs AFK for hours. You really need to come up with creative ways to level up faster. For most classes this is fucking agonizing in DAOC. I do like the no penalty for group leveling, however there are going to be times when soloing is required, especially with Albs PLing each other. When I ask for help I get either stfu noob, leave if you don't like soloing, find an orc group! I get several sarcastic responses to simple questions. The orc group power leveling is killing normal players being able to play, I literally can't find a group there. (Albion side).Ī lot of your players have shitty attitudes and will drive away new players to the server. I've been playing on your server for about two weeks now, and here are my impressions.
